An immense category this: from the showy and glorious damsels and dragons, moths, butterflies, grasshoppers and beetles right down to nasty biting things like sheep ticks! Its all very interesting and gives huge scope for macro work .......... patience and endurance especially in hot weather can be the key to obtaining images of insects - especially those that can fly .......

Wading in a Cornish river finally got us close to the Beautiful Demoiselles - but beware in our case it also resulted in Ian's camera, new macro lens and tripod taking an unsheduled baptism - a dip that it did not recover from! Thank goodness for insurance - but there are less upsetting ways to upgrade one's equipment.....
