Ian says…….. Not as early a start but we were up on the river Lune before 8.00am and were soon at what I think of as the best stretch – just downstream of the M6 motorway bridge. While our friends waited with cameras at the ready I thought it wise to walk up and down the full stretch just in case and it was on the second walk that I spotted a single Otter happily feeding in the area in front of our car so it was back for the camera and as quickly as possible all the way back upriver to the boat slipway. We took shots and as the otter dove we moved in a bit closer. After a couple of minutes I heard a car pull up and thought by then that it could be Pauline who was picking another friend up just after 9.00.
Pauline says…..After doing all the driving yesterday I opted for a later start and sat around the house while the others rushed around and got off out! I picked Joan up as arranged about ten past 9 and had a decent drive and a catch-up chat on the M6! We had just pulled up and were about to have a leisurely brew before ambling off to find the others - when a lunatic came banging on the car window scaring us half to death – it was Ian telling us that the Otter was just in front so to get out straight away if we wanted to see it. Unfortunately by the time we got to the bank the otter was heading out in to the middle and soon vanished totally with out trace. I did get some shots but must return in a month or so and try again … the hot cuppa was long overdue by this stage!
Ian says…….Phew! glad one showed – pressure off! We now had time for a leisurely drive through the southern half of the Lakes calling in at a few places for landscape and a few flower shots … the weather was sublime – sunny and almost warm – a wonderful day shared and enjoyed.
