Fri 4th Jan ... Pucker Up!

Pauline say's ... Ian has gone to bed early - still not in fettle - meanwhile yesterday I came down with his germs in grand style - sneezing and snottering like there's no tomorrow - sorry too much info! And I'm still far too ill to want to make use of this afternoons find either!

We were up and off out at 6.15am on a ride to North Wales - more for a recce and some fresh air but passing the brown sign to Errdig Country Park reminded us about the huge amounts of mistletoe growing in their car park. So on the way back after dinner we called in and I was surprised to see so many berries still on it - the blackbirds, thrushes and even a robin were taking their toll. The robin was hilarious - its not often I frighten a bird away when its come begging for food but this robin was after my tiny scrap of mistletoe which Ian had found on the floor (we didn;t cut any - its all out of normal reach anyway unless you take stepladders!). I had just carefully hung the two little sprigs from branches in front of a large pair of dark green gates, which has given a lovely dark background to show off the berries! And along comes this cheeky robin headed straight for 'my' berries - I shooed him off and then sprinkled some hulled sunflower to keep him busy while I got busy with the camera. The sun was warm and it was sheltered from the bitter wind and very relaxing ....
